Bob's Custom Guitars Gallery

Pan-Galactic Sculpture also made some of the most beautiful solid body
electric guitars and basses available. Bob Epstein, Pan-Galactic's Grand Poobah,
played, modified, and, built guitars for nearly forty years.

He hand selected the choicest woods and components, and hand built each
instrument to his client's specifications, producing guitars of unsurpassed beauty
and exquisite playability and tone.

He use all solid construction, with no veneers,
which provided better tone and allowed the fantastic grain patterns to flow around
the sensuously carved and sculpted form of the guitars.

My Guitar

I finally built one for me! I actually cut this tree down in Upstate NY over twenty years ago! It's got gorgeous figure from top to bottom and front to back.

I gave it a full 24 fret 3 piece neck-thru design that allows access to every fret on the neck! I used PRS McCarty pickups which I customized with powder coated images. I used abalone and purpleheart for the inlays and a gorgeous silver truss rod cover designed by the fabulous Vanessa Kaukonen. Custom Five String Bass

This beauty of a five string, neck-through bass has a body of rare solid Vermont curly black walnut. The neck is a seven piece laminated curly maple and purpleheart with a 24 fret scale.

The fretboard is ebony, banded with purpleheart and inlaid with gorgeous abalone from shells Bob found in Mexico.

It has a bookmatched curly walnut headstock, also inlaid with abalone. We used really cool EMG active pickups and electronics.

Custom Guitar

Made from solid curly maple with some of the most dramatic flame we have ever seen. We gave it a five piece laminated curly maple neck made with wood from the same tree as the body.

It has an ebony fingerboard with abalone gecko inlay, PRS Dragon II pickups and Shaller tuning machines.

The bridge is a Fishman Powerbridge with an integral active piezo pickup which gives a beautiful acoustic sound. The guitar is stereo with one channel the piezo and the other the PRS's. You can run two amps or vary the amounts of one channel or the other through a single amp.
